» Why Does Ocuglide™ feel so soft and lasts so long?
The answer is in the formula! Ocuglide™ contains Medical grade silicones that provide additional moisture and lubrication that can last up to 10 times longer than traditional saline and water based formulas.
There are several water and saline based ocular moisturizers on the market that would seem to be a good lubrication choice since the human body naturally uses saline (tears) to keep the eyes lubricated. However, these products tend to be absorbed by the tissue and dry out rapidly in and around the eye socket resulting in ocular dryness and a crusty discharge from the socket. Ocuglide™ is formulated to help reduce symptoms associated with discharge, chaffing and with its extra long lasting formula the need to apply is a lot less daily. There are other silicone based prosthetic eye gels on the market what makes Ocuglide™ feel so different? Years of research in the field of medical grade silicones has helped us reach our goal of formulating quite possibly the longest lasting softest feeling prosthetic eye gel ever! We invite you to see for your self. Ocuglide™ is a unique scientifically formulated solution designed to provide the optimum viscosity for long lasting artificial eye comfort. Ocuglide is ideal for today's prosthetic eyes since they are designed to be worn as long as possible some times including sleep.
» How Do I Use OcuGlide™
Using OcuGlide™ is simple! Specially formulated to be applied inside the eye orbit for prosthetic eyes to support proper eye lid function, health and comfort. There's no need to remove the prosthetic eye except for cleaning, just look upwards and apply 1 to 2 drops as if one were putting in eye drops on the prosthetic. Normal blinking of the lid will spread the lubricant evenly.
How much and how often do you need to apply Ocuglide™ depends on the user and the environment. Most users apply 1 to 3 drops up to 4 times daily but this may change depending on your exposure to various elements such as wind, dust, pollen, adverse heat, extreme cold. Ocuglide's™ medium viscosity formula eliminates the chafing caused to eyelids moving over dry prosthetic eyes.

» Prosthetic Eye Care – How to Properly Lubricate an Artificial Eye
After your Ocularist has thoroughly explained the importance of cleaning, storing, and regularly polishing your artificial eye, it is vital that you choose the right prosthetic eye lubricant. Prosthetic eye drops are made specifically for those with artificial eyes. This is because the viscosity of artificial eye drops such as Ocuglide is much denser than eye drops made for those with contacts or natural eyes. As a result, using a medium viscosity prosthetic eye lubricant will result in an overall more comfortable experience with your artificial eye. As you may have read earlier, most of those that use artificial eye drops apply them around 4 times a day depending on weather conditions and personal preference. The dryer the climate, the more applications you will need. Again, all you need to do to properly lubricate your artificial eye is to tilt your head back, and apply 1-3 drops of Ocuglide to your artificial eye. After you blink a few times, the gel will spread evenly over your prosthetic eye and result in a silky, long-lasting, and comfortable experience. The science and technology involved in ocular prosthetics has come a long way from the early days of crudely manufactured glass eyes. Modern materials and advanced design techniques have resulted in the fact that many of those with prosthetic eyes can not be distinguished from those with natural eyes. However, while Ocularists have substantially improved their craft, it is still the responsibility of those wearing the prosthetic eyes that they are cared for including ensuring that they are properly lubricated.
